3.5d Short-Cycle Action Plans for Grade-Level or Content Teams Example
This is a support document for Chapter 3.5 of The Skillful Data Use Series: Generating Solutions

This chapter identifies three common pitfalls in action planning:

grabbing at strategies that never lead to the elusive student-learning goal;
lack of clarity about intended outcomes; and
failure to monitor implementation and results along the way.
The antidote is using Logic Model thinking to generate doable solutions that are logically linked to desired outcomes and to “do less and monitor more.” In the video, you will see a physical enactment of a Logic Model as well as templates and tools for creating annual and short-cycle improvement plans.

Reflect and Dialogue:

To what extent has your school or district experienced the common pitfalls of action planning?
What insights have you gained into how to prevent them?
