Module 3: A Framework for Collaborative Inquiry - Chapter 3.3 Identifying the Student-Learning Problem

In this component of the Using Data Process, the Data Team digs into multiple sources of data at multiple levels to identify a common student-learning problem and a focus for improvement. This chapter presents a framework, Use Multiple Sources of Data and Drill Down Deep, illustrating three types of data and five levels of analysis. It also brings to life a four-phase process for engaging in powerful conversations about data known as Data-Driven Dialogue.

Reflect and Dialogue:

Review the framework, Use Multiple Sources of Data and Drill Down Deep (see Support Materials below). Reflect on the extent to which educators in your school or district take advantage of multiple sources of data at multiple levels.
What are the benefits of engaging in Data-Driven Dialogue with its four distinct phases: Predict; Go Visual; Observe; Infer?
